Bāla Kāṇḍa·Chaupāī·23.1·162 of 166
aguna saguna dui brahma sarūpā, akatha agādha anādi anūpā |
moreṁ mata baṛa nāmu duhū teṁ, kie jehĩ juga nija basa nija būteṁ ||
English Rendering
Attributeless and attributed — both are the true forms of Brahman: inexpressible, unfathomable, beginningless, incomparable. In my view, the Name is greater than both — for by its own strength it has brought both of them under its own command.
Context — Editorial
The most daring claim of the entire Name-vandanā, stated openly. Nirguṇa and saguṇa are both infinite — but above them both, Tulsīdās says in the first-person "my view", stands the Name. The whole next chaupāī will defend this.
