बंदउँ मुनि पद कंजु, रामायन जेहिं निरमयउ।
सखर सुकोमल मंजु, दोष रहित दूषन सहित॥14(घ)॥
baṁdaũ muni pada kaṁju, rāmāyana jehĩ niramayau |
sakhara sukomala maṁju, doṣa rahita dūṣana sahita ||14(gha)||
English Rendering
I bow at the lotus feet of the sage who composed the Rāmāyaṇa — a work sharp yet soft, beautiful, free from every fault and yet containing Dūṣaṇa.
हिन्दी अनुवाद
उन मुनि (वाल्मीकि) के चरण-कमलों की वन्दना करता हूँ, जिन्होंने रामायण की रचना की — जो कठोर भी है और सुकोमल भी, अत्यन्त मनोहर, समस्त दोषों से रहित — फिर भी जिसमें दूषण (नामक राक्षस) है।
Context — Editorial
The play of opposites, and the play of homonyms. The Rāmāyaṇa is doṣa-rahita — flawless — yet dūṣaṇa-sahita — with Dūṣaṇa in it (the demon in Araṇya-kāṇḍa). Vālmīki is saluted through the same wordplay he himself would have relished.
