Bāla Kāṇḍa·Dohā·1.2
bandaũ guru pada kañja kṛpā sindhu nararūpa hari | mahāmoha tama puñja jāsu bacana rabikara nikara ||
English rendering

I bow to the lotus feet of my guru — an ocean of compassion, Hari in human form — whose words are a cluster of sunrays that scatter the massed darkness of great illusion.

Context — editorial

The completion of the guru-vandanā. The divine is placed not in temple statues but in the guru — Hari has taken human form, and that form is the teacher. The words of such a teacher, Tulsīdās says, do to darkness what dawn does to night.
