जे जनमे कलिकाल कराला। करतब बायस बेष मराला॥
चलत कुपंथ बेद मग छाँड़ें। कपट कलेवर कलि मल भाँड़ें॥
je janame kalikāla karālā, karataba bāyasa beṣa marālā |
calata kupaṁtha beda maga chā̃ṛeṁ, kapaṭa kalevara kali mala bhā̃ṛeṁ ||
English Rendering
Those born in the terrible Kali age — whose deeds are the crow’s, though their outward dress is the swan’s; who walk crooked paths after abandoning the highway of the Veda; whose bodies are vessels of pretence, filled with the filth of the age —

The most severe verse in this section. Tulsīdās, having just told those who love Hari that his poem will be sweet to them, now identifies the very opposite readers: those who wear the swan’s dress and act the crow. He does not spare himself in what follows.
