जौं अपने अवगुन सब कहऊँ। बाढ़इ कथा पार नहिं लहऊँ॥
ताते मैं अति अलप बखाने। थोरे महुँ जानिहहिं सयाने॥
jauṁ apane avaguna saba kahaū̃, bāṛhai kathā pāra nahiṁ lahaū̃ |
tāte maiṁ ati alapa bakhāne, thore mahũ jānihahiṁ sayāne ||
English Rendering
If I were to list all my defects, the tale would swell and I would never reach its end. So I have named only very few — from a little, the wise will understand much.
हिन्दी अनुवाद
यदि मैं अपने सारे अवगुण गिनाने बैठूँ, तो कथा बढ़ती चली जाएगी और मैं उसका पार नहीं पा सकूँगा। इसलिए मैंने अत्यन्त थोड़े ही कहे हैं — थोड़े में ही सयाने समझ लेते हैं।
