जे प्राकृत कबि परम सयाने। भाषाँ जिन्ह हरि चरित बखाने॥
भए जे अहहिं जे होइहहिं आगें। प्रनवउँ सबहिं कपट सब त्यागें॥
je prākṛta kabi parama sayāne, bhāṣā̃ jinha hari carita bakhāne |
bhae je ahahĩ je hoihahĩ āgeṁ, pranavaũ sabahĩ kapaṭa saba tyāgeṁ ||
English Rendering
The vernacular poets of supreme wisdom — those who have described the deeds of Hari in the everyday tongue — those who have been, those who are, those who will yet come — I bow to them all, laying aside every pretence.

जो प्राकृत कवि परम सयाने हैं — जिन्होंने भाषा (लोक-भाषा) में श्रीहरि के चरित का वर्णन किया — जो हो चुके, जो हैं, और जो आगे होंगे — उन सबको मैं समस्त कपट त्यागकर प्रणाम करता हूँ।
Context — Editorial
The most self-implicating verse of the vandanā. Tulsīdās himself is a "prākṛta kavi" — writing not in Sanskrit but in Awadhī. The verse quietly enrols him in the very lineage he salutes.
