Bāla Kāṇḍa·Chaupāī·14.4·108 of 124
hohu prasanna dehu baradānū, sādhu samāja bhaniti sanamānū |
jo prabaṁdha budha nahĩ ādarahī̃, so śrama bādi bāla kabi karahī̃ ||
English Rendering
Be pleased with me; grant this one boon: that my composition find honour in the assembly of the good. A work that the wise do not respect is a wasted labour — the exercise of an unripe poet.
Context — Editorial
A single boon is asked — not fame, not skill, not readership. Only that the good may honour the work. The negative image — a poem the wise ignore — is called out by its exact worth: the practice-piece of a child.
