प्रनवउँ परिजन सहित बिदेहू। जाहि राम पद गूढ़ सनेहू॥
जोग भोग महँ राखेउ गोई। राम बिलोकत प्रगटेउ सोई॥
pranavaũ parijana sahita bidehū, jāhi rāma pada gūṛha sanehū |
joga bhoga mahã rākheu goī, rāma bilokata pragaṭeu soī ||
English Rendering
I salute Videha (Janaka), along with all his household, who kept a hidden love for Rāma’s feet. Amidst both yoga and enjoyment he kept it secret — the moment he saw Rāma, that same love stood revealed.
हिन्दी अनुवाद
परिजनों सहित मैं विदेह (जनक) को प्रणाम करता हूँ — जिनके हृदय में श्रीराम-पद में गूढ़ (गहरा-छुपा) स्नेह था। योग और भोग के बीच उसे उन्होंने छिपाए रखा — पर श्रीराम को देखते ही वही स्नेह प्रकट हो गया।

The Janaka portrait in one stanza. A king who lived every day with royal enjoyment and yogic detachment simultaneously — and hid, under both, the one thing he actually was: a lover of Rāma. Only Rāma’s face could pull it out.
