बंदउँ अवध भुआल, सत्य प्रेम जेहि राम पद।
बिछुरत दीनदयाल, प्रिय तनु तृन इव परिहरेउ॥16॥
baṁdaũ avadha bhuāla, satya prema jehi rāma pada |
bichurata dīnadayāla, priya tanu tṛna iva parihareu ||16||
English Rendering
I bow to the lord of Avadha, whose love for Rāma’s feet was true — so that on being parted from that friend of the humble, he cast off his dear body as lightly as a blade of grass.

अवध के भूपाल (दशरथ) को मैं प्रणाम करता हूँ — जिनका श्रीराम के चरणों में सत्य प्रेम था। और जो — दीनदयाल श्रीराम से बिछुड़ते ही — अपने प्रिय शरीर को तिनके की भाँति त्याग गए।
Context — Editorial
The whole Ayodhyā-vandanā closes on the single measure that Tulsīdās keeps returning to — parting. Daśaratha’s love proved itself not in life but in the moment of separation. The body, dear until then, became grass.
