Bāla Kāṇḍa·Chaupāī·2.6
baṭa bisvāsa acala nija dharamā, tīratharāja samāja sukaramā | sabahi sulabha saba dina saba desā, sevata sādara samana kalesā ||
English Rendering

Unshaking trust in one’s own dharma is that Prayāga’s undying banyan; the company’s good deeds are its neighbouring shrines. This tīrtha is available to everyone, every day, in every country — and, if approached with reverence, it burns away every distress.

Context — Editorial

The metaphor now becomes a critique of geography. The physical Prayāga is one place, reached once a year at Māgh; the saint-Prayāga is everywhere, all the time, for anyone. Tulsīdās gently equalizes the whole subcontinent: the pilgrimage does not have to be travelled to.
