puni pranavaũ pṛthurāja samānā, para agha sunai sahasa dasa kānā | bahuri sakra sama binavaũ tehī, saṁtata surā nīka hita jehī ||
English Rendering

Again I entreat them, as if they were King Pṛthu — for the wicked hear another’s wrongdoing with ten thousand ears. And I petition them once more as if they were Indra — for whom, always, only sura (wine — or the drink of the gods) is fit and welcome.

Context — Editorial

The śleṣa (pun) here is exquisite: surā means both "wine" and "the drink of the gods." Applied to Indra, it praises; applied to the khala, it damns. Tulsīdās keeps the language sacred and, without breaking it, makes it strike.
