गुन अवगुन जानत सब कोई। जो जेहि भाव नीक तेहि सोई॥

Everyone knows the difference between quality and defect; but what one loves — that is the one one calls good.

Context — Editorial
A quiet, deceptive line. Discernment, Tulsīdās says, is not the problem; every person can tell good from bad. The problem is affection — which lets us call our own preferences good, whatever their quality.
