अस बिबेक जब देइ बिधाता। तब तजि दोष गुनहिं मन राता॥
काल सुभाउ करम बरिआई। भलउ प्रकृति बस चुकइ भलाई॥
asa bibeka jaba dei bidhātā, taba taji doṣa gunahiṁ mana rātā |
kāla subhāu karama bariāī, bhalau prakṛti basa cukai bhalāī ||
English Rendering
When the Creator grants such a discernment, the mind then abandons flaws and becomes coloured with quality. Time, temperament, action, compulsion — even the good, held by their nature, sometimes fall short of good.

जब विधाता ऐसा विवेक प्रदान करते हैं, तब मन दोषों को छोड़कर गुणों में रँग जाता है। किन्तु काल, स्वभाव और कर्मों की बलवत्ता से — अच्छे लोग भी, प्रकृति के वश में आकर, भलाई से चूक जाते हैं।
Context — Editorial
A characteristically merciful chaupāī. Even the good, Tulsīdās notes, can fail in the good — not out of villainy but out of ordinary human compulsion. He is preparing the ground for the great forgiving vision of the whole Manas.
