जड़ चेतन गुन दोष मय, बिस्व कीन्ह करतार।
संत हंस गुन गहहिं पय, परिहरि बारि बिकार॥
jaṛa cetana guna doṣa maya, bisva kīnha karatāra |
saṁta haṁsa guna gahahiṁ paya, parihari bāri bikāra ||
English Rendering
Inert and sentient, quality and defect together — out of these the Creator made the cosmos. The swan-like saints take up the milk of quality, and let the flawed water flow past.

विधाता ने संसार को जड़-चेतन तथा गुण-दोष से मिश्रित रूप में रचा है। सन्त-रूपी हंस केवल गुण-रूपी दूध ग्रहण करते हैं, और दोष-रूपी पानी को छोड़ देते हैं।
Context — Editorial
The famous haṁsa-nīra-kṣīra image. The traditional myth is that a swan can separate milk mixed with water and drink only the milk. Tulsīdās applies it to the saint: the same mixed world flows past them; they take only what is nourishing.
