Bāla Kāṇḍa·Chaupāī·8.5
jauṁ bālaka kaha totari bātā, sunahiṁ mudita mana pitu aru mātā | haḱsihahiṁ kūra kuṭila kubicārī, je para dūṣana bhūṣana dhārī ||
English Rendering

When a child speaks in a lisp, the father and the mother listen with delight in their hearts. Those who will laugh at me are the cruel, the crooked, the ill-thinking — who wear another’s faults as their own ornament.

Context — Editorial

The child image is completed here. If Tulsīdās is speaking baby-talk, the saints will hear it as parents hear their child. Only those who exhibit others’ flaws as their own ornament will laugh — and their laughter is safely predicted.
