nija kabitta kehi lāga na nīkā, sarasa hou athavā ati phīkā | je parabhaniti sunata haraṣāhīṁ, te bara puruṣa bahuta jaga nāhīṁ ||
English Rendering

To whom does his own poem not look fine — whether it is fresh with feeling or entirely tasteless? Those who take joy in hearing another’s composition — such excellent souls are not plentiful in the world.

Context — Editorial

A wry observation that any writer will recognise. Everyone loves their own draft; almost no one truly loves anyone else’s. Tulsīdās, before beginning, quietly names the psychological facts he is writing against.
