राम भगति भूषित जियँ जानी। सुनिहहिं सुजन सराहि सुबानी॥
कबि न होउँ नहिं बचन प्रबीनू। सकल कला सब बिद्या हीनू॥
rāma bhagati bhūṣita jiyã jānī, sunihahiṁ sujana sarāhi subānī |
kabi na hoũ nahiṁ bacana prabīnū, sakala kalā saba bidyā hīnū ||
English Rendering
Knowing in their hearts that this poem is adorned with devotion to Rāma, the good will listen and praise it in kind words. I am no poet; I am no master of speech; I lack every art and every branch of learning.

राम-भक्ति से भूषित है — यह जानकर सज्जन इसे सुनेंगे और सुन्दर वाणी में सराहेंगे। मैं कवि नहीं हूँ, न वचन में प्रवीण; सब कलाओं और समस्त विद्याओं से हीन हूँ।
Context — Editorial
The claim is not false modesty. Tulsīdās names four things in one line — no poetic gift, no rhetorical skill, no craft, no scholarly training — so that credit for whatever follows must go elsewhere.
