स्याम सुरभि पय बिसद अति, गुनद करहिं सब पान।
गिरा ग्राम्य सिय राम जस, गावहिं सुनहिं सुजान॥
syāma surabhi paya bisada ati, gunada karahiṁ saba pāna |
girā grāmya siya rāma jasa, gāvahiṁ sunahiṁ sujāna ||
English Rendering
The milk of a black cow is white, exceedingly beneficial, and everyone drinks it. In the same way, though the speech be rustic, the wise will sing and hear the glory of Sītā and Rāma in it.

काली गाय का दूध श्वेत, अत्यन्त गुणकारी होता है — सभी उसे पीते हैं। इसी तरह वाणी भले ही गँवारू (ग्राम्य) हो, विद्वान् उसमें सीता-राम के यश को गाते और सुनते हैं।
