सरल कबित कीरति बिमल, सोइ आदरहिं सुजान।
सहज बयर बिसराइ रिपु, जो सुनि करहिं बखान॥14(क)॥
sarala kabita kīrati bimala, soi ādarahĩ sujāna |
sahaja bayara bisarāi ripu, jo suni karahĩ bakhāna ||14(ka)||
English Rendering
Simple verse and unstained fame — that alone the wise honour; and even the enemy, forgetting his natural hostility, will listen and speak in its praise.

सरल कविता और निर्मल कीर्ति — इन्हीं का सुजन (विद्वान्) आदर करते हैं; और स्वाभाविक वैर भूलकर शत्रु भी उसे सुनकर उसकी सराहना करते हैं।
Context — Editorial
The seven-fold dohā of Dohā 14 opens with a claim about audience. Not "everyone will love it" — but "the enemy himself will forget he is one." A stronger test than approval.
