संत सरल चित जगत हित, जानि सुभाउ सनेहु।
बाल बिनय सुनि सुरुचि लखि, राम चरन रति देहु॥
saṁta sarala cita jagata hita, jāni subhāu sanehu |
bāla binaya suni suruci lakhi, rāma carana rati dehu ||
English Rendering
O saints — straight of heart, well-wishers of the world — knowing this to be your nature and your affection, hear a child’s petition and mark his good taste: grant me love for Rāma’s feet.

हे सन्तो — सरल चित्त वाले, जगत के हितकारी! अपने ऐसे स्वभाव और स्नेह को जानते हुए, इस बालक की विनती सुनिए, और उसकी सुरुचि देखकर, राम के चरणों में प्रीति दीजिए।
Context — Editorial
The dohā that closes the entire satsanga-vandanā section and the poet’s formal preface to the poem. Note the tone: Tulsīdās addresses himself as bāla — a child — and asks for one thing. Not fame, not knowledge, not moksha. Just prīti for Rāma’s feet. Everything the rest of the poem contains follows from that one plea.
