भाग छोट अभिलाष बड़, करउँ एक बिस्वास।
पइहहिं सुख सुनि सुजन जन, खल करिहहिं उपहास॥
bhāga choṭa abhilāṣa baṛa, karaũ eka bisvāsa |
paihahiṁ sukha suni sujana jana, khala karihahiṁ upahāsa ||
English Rendering
My fortune is small; my ambition is great; I hold on to only one certainty. The good will find joy in the hearing; the wicked will make a mockery of it.

भाग्य छोटा है, अभिलाषा बड़ी है; मैं केवल एक बात पर विश्वास करता हूँ — सज्जन इसे सुन कर सुख पाएँगे, और दुष्ट इसका उपहास करेंगे।
Context — Editorial
The dohā that closes the great invocation. Tulsīdās accepts, in one line, that no work of dharma will please everyone — and states his single trust: the good will find it worthwhile. That is enough.
